Hardwood is naturally more durable than softwood timber. This is due to the slow growth of the trees the timber is sourced from, which makes this type of wood incredibly dense. Hardwood is available is a very of rich colours and requires little maintenance other than applying oil to the decking annually. Here are a few types of hardwood decking we recommend.

YELLOW BALAU

Yellow Balau (pronounced Bal-Ow) - Bangkirai - is a very durable hardwood and one of the most popular species in the UK for hardwood decking. It’s a hard, heavy and strong timber that is well suited to deck construction. With a mixture of warm colours of golden browns, light browns and pale reddish-brown, Yellow Balau offers a unique colour range which will sit beautifully within a natural environment

SIBERIAN LARCH

The wood of Siberian Larch is highly valued for its remarkable properties and performance characteristics. It is strong and durable, possessing unusually high levels of resin, which give the heartwood a natural resistance to decay. With its lustrous golden-brown colour and striking grain patterns, Larch decking has a highly attractive appearance. Its good looks and physical/mechanical properties make it much sought-after for exterior uses, such as decking.
